A Fresno City Council subcommittee outlined rules for commercial cannabis businesses Tuesday that would make way for medicinal storefronts and other pot-related businesses within city limits, Jason Oliveira of abc30 News reported.
Passage of the proposed regulations is contingent on the passage of Measure A, the cannabis business license tax placed on the ballot by the City Council. The city estimates is could generate up to $10 million per year in local tax revenues.
“Cities around the state of California are able to harness that tax revenue and put it into their general fund. Some cities are more successful than others and that’s why we’re taking our time because we want to get this right,” Fresno City Councilmember Clint Olivier told abc30.
